Lubricants are very good at reducing friction (via a lower COF). Until they increase friction. Learn about the 5 downsides to lubricants as a blister prevention.
The hot-spot stage is usually relatively brief. If your patient complains of a hot-spot sensation that lasts longer than 30 mins and a blister never forms, it’s unlikely to be blister-related. Think of other reasons for the sensation.
Q: Do silicone gel toe sleeves reduce friction?
A: No! The gel material actually forms a very high COF against the skin – that’s why they’re difficult to slide on over the toe. However, the gel material is unbeatable at absorbing shear! Here’s how I educate my patients on the pros and cons of gel toe protectors.
